More About Me

I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. It’s very much in the very centre of Canada on the flat prairies (right above North Dakota/Minnesota). Winnipeg will always have my heart and I love my home city.

I have a wonderful Mom and Dad and two older sisters who I am very close with. I also have a niece who is 12 years younger than me and more like a sister than a niece. She is one of my favourite people ever.

I attended Samuel Burland school for K-8 and Glenlawn Collegiate Institute for grades 9-12. My journey with basketball started in grade seven but over the years I played many sports, starting with ringette at age seven. In school I also participated in the running club, volleyball, badminton, track and field, cross country, and handball. I love team sports and playing as many sports as I could growing up helped me create so many great friendships, helped me represent my school, and made me a more well rounded athlete.

When I wasn’t running around with sports teams, I was hanging out with my friends or family and spending a ton of time at our lake home outside the small town of Lac Du Bonnet. Since I was born I’ve been heading out to the lake on the weekends, first to my grandparents cottage, and eventually our own place. It was the best way to grow up, and my summers were filled with swimming, bonfires, building forts and arts and crafts. I’m forever thankful for my upbringing and how I just got to have fun and be a kid.

The real work started later, once I got involved in basketball more heavily in high school. In grade seven I started with the junior bisons program, then the provincial team program (team toba), CP, and the Canadian National team at various levels. I was running around from class to practice to extra weight sessions and meetings with a mental coach. All of these decisions, and workouts and early mornings led me to ultimately making the 17U National Team to go to worlds in 2012 and a college scholarship.

After many sports and activities in high school, I packed up and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 17 to attend the University of Utah. It was scary, but the best thing I’ve ever done. I was homesick the first year, but then I really found my groove, and after five years living in Salt Lake, I will always consider it a home. I made lifelong friendships with my teammates and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing.

Now, being a professional basketball player I feel like I have the most balance in my life. I am enjoying playing the game and after multiple seasons sitting out with injuries, I’m thankful every day to step on the court. But, I am also a lot more than a basketball player as well.

I am a sister, daughter, aunt and friend first. I am a mental health advocate. I am a sports enthusiast, not just for basketball. I am a lover of yoga and being in the outdoors. I enjoy finding new local restaurants to try out and also love cooking and baking at home. I’m an avid thrift shopper and I bought a sewing machine to start learning to make my own quilts arms clothing. I am a bunch of things and I love a ton of different things. We don’t have to fix ourselves into one box, we are allowed to grow, change and adapt.
